No complaints today as we put in three decent displays. The C's enjoyed a ball against Tooting Bec Rovers while it was business as usual for the B's against Sporting Crabs and the A's were unlucky to suffer a 1-0 defeat at the hands of an unfortunate pen.
El Matadors 1 Kew Antigua I 0
A penalty for a handball was the difference between the two teams. Up until then El Matadors never looked like scoring against our solid defence of Neil, Adam, Tom and Simeon. It was 'after the Lord Mayor's Show' up front however as we failed to fire following our Cup heroics last week. A decent display however given that Frank, Charlie and Daniel Bennett were missing and some burgeoning team spirit to take into the Cup build-up next week.
Kew Antigua Res 3 Sporting Crabs 1
We recovered from going 1-0 down to maintain our winning run in 2012. Sadly our closest rivals at the top of Div 4 (Mitcham Allstars) have got some easy games coming up but we will keep going about our business and hopefully slip under the radar of their and the League's searchlights.
As per usual there were moments when we switched off but we also played some great stuff which was encapsulated in a goal which was more Brazilian than Kew Antiguan.
Many thanks to Carl for going in goal for the full 90, despite being promised 45 on pitch.
We play Sporting Crabs at their place (Belair Park, Dulwich) in the Div 3/4 Cup next Sunday and I think we have the resources to push for the Cup and League so I'll have a dose of what we had today please.
Tooting Bec Rovers 1 Kew Antigua C 9
Tooting huffed and puffed but we blew their house down. They were determined that they were going to play it out from the back even if it meant that we'd be clean through on goal when they lost possession. While they continued with their attempts at ticky-tacky football the force of our tsunami swept over them as we swept into a 6-0 first half lead.
After we'd gone into a 3-0 lead after ten minutes it was no more than a training game which was a shame following our Cup exit last Sunday.
Ben (2), Gary (2), Nick and an own goal were our first half scorers and in the second half Mark, Yuichi and James Millar notched.
We are going from strength to strength but running out of games ! I will be involving the C's in the B's League Cup team because they (the C's) will have at least 6 games less than the B's over the course of the season.
Please let me know if you are available to play next Sunday. The C's game is yet to be confirmed by the League but we have:
Sunday February 5th:
Kew Antigua I v Bath Old Boys - League - Battersea Park - 10.30 k.o.
Sporting Crabs v Kew Antigua Res - Cup - Belair Park, Dulwich - 10.30 k.o.
Kew Antigua C v t.b.c - 10.30 k.o.
Look forward to hearing from you
Adam
